A dream come true...

Forty years and fifteen Australian tours later, Elton John is back in Aus.  And on the first night of his Australian leg of the 2011 Rocket Man tour, I was given the opportunity to accomplish #2 on my list of things to do before I die.

I heard my favourite song of all time live.

It was only this afternoon as I was driving to the Entertainment Centre that I began to comprehend the significance of this concert.  It was the first and will probably the last time I get the opportunity to hear my favourite song by my favourite musical artist in the flesh.  Surprisingly I'm not embarrassed to say I shed a few tears on the way (we all know I can bust out the tears).  Again, surprisingly I wasn't (very) embarrassed when my eyes leaked and I grinned the whole way through my song.

Elton was the glittering star in a black tux with a sequinned monogram EJ on his back. Claiming a bronchial infection, he sang beautifully, played even better and made the audience fall in love with his music again.

Best night of my life so far... I can't wait to do #1 on my list.  I am so grateful and thankful that I got this opportunity, and I give full credit to my best friend, creator, and the one who knows me best, for this gift.  "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).  Dreams do come true xx
